How to polish headlights

The sun, the weather conditions, the passage of time … there are many factors that cause damage headlights of our car and cause them to lose their normal appearance, becoming opaque and matte. This is not only unsightly but causes outbreaks shine less and therefore it is also a matter of safety.

The first step to polish the headlights of the car sun-worn and corrosion consist of placing masking tape, the adhesive paper, the same used by painters-to protect the sheet around the headlights.

Likewise, those who do know can choose to remove the headlight for easier polishing to do, but the truth is that removing them will not be strictly necessary.

Then clean the headlamp with a wet rag in soapy water to remove all dirt and impurities that failure to do so may scratch the lighthouse while polish.

Once clean, apply over the lighthouse liquid polish or similar as they are part of the headlight polishing kits product. The use of gloves is recommended for handling such chemicals.

Help yourself to a cotton cloth to spread the product around the headlight polish and always do it with a circular motion.

You see how, as the lighthouse circularly rub with the rag, the appearance of the focus will change and it will become more transparent. We recommend applying the product used at least twice, for best results.

Also water sandpaper 2000 or 2500 may be used to polish the headlights completely. Some kits even cleaning are included.

When we see the headlights of the vehicle are no longer dull and opaque, but recover their original transparency, we will change the used cloth (soaked product) for a clean, dry cloth to burnish again in circular motions.

Note that this operation requires a lot of patience, because at least 25 minutes will be needed to polish a lighthouse and more time in case it is very run down.
