How to push the car when the battery is worn

Sure we’ve all encountered the unpleasant situation of having to start a car that has no battery, then we have pushed up a hill to see if it boots up. The cars with automatic transmission (gearbox) can be turned on even when the battery or the starter will not work. Here’s how it’s done.

Instructions

  1. Make sure the problem is the battery or the starter if the engine sounds (“rrr-rrr-rrr”) when the key is turned, then the problem is not the starter or battery.
  2. Have at least one person sitting in the driver’s seat and a person who push the cars midsize and large require two or three people to push, depending on the strength of the people and if the car is parked on flat or pending .
  3. Turn off all accessories (radio, wipers, and lamps).
  4. Turn the key to position “on”.
  5. Step on the clutch pedal with your foot.
  6. Put the transmission in first or second.
  7. Release the parking brake and foot brake.
  8. Keep in mind that people who are pushing the need to get car go as fast as possible. This works best on a hill or slope.
  9. Release the clutch pedal while pressing the accelerator pedal when the car is moving fast enough. This will cause the engine to start.

Advice

  • The cars also can be turned on by pushing back, just put the transmission in reverse instead of first or second and push the car back.
  • A car with a completely dead battery often cannot turn pushing.
  • One person can start a car and drive if you are on a hill, but this can be very dangerous because you must jump into the car once it picks up speed and there is a possibility that the car lost control.
  • The manufacturers of specific models do not recommend starting the car this way. Check your owner’s manual for warnings.
