Causes and Solutions of Check Engine Light

The light comes on generally when the ignition, fuel injection or emission control system is not operating properly

When a light flashes on the dashboard of a car is a sign that something is not working properly, but when it comes to the orange or red light that says check engine or has the shape of an engine, alarms are triggered immediately , causing one to imagine the worst.

Do not panic. The light on does not mean that you should stop the car immediately; It means you should review it as soon as possible. When this light comes on, it usually means that a vehicle’s system, such as ignition, fuel injection or emission control, is not operating properly.

Possible causes

Some of the problems that cause this light to come on include a faulty oxygen sensor, an airflow sensor, or damaged spark plugs and wires. If the light flashes, the problem is more critical and should be checked immediately to prevent severe damage which may include problems with the catalytic converter.

Even if the vehicle seems to operate normally, ignoring the warning light can result in more expensive repairs.

Service and solutions

The technician will connect the computer system of your vehicle to a scanning and diagnostics tool, which will provide trouble codes that indicate the reason why the engine check light came on.

While the diagnostic tool is connected, the technician can analyze data such as engine stability, throttle, engine temperature, fuel system pressure, vacuum manifolds, exhaust emission levels and many other key indexes. Once the problem is identified and the repair is performed, the car’s computer is reset.
