Before buying a car, whether new or used, perhaps one of the questions many are asking is: what is more convenient, a car mechanic or an auto? Each type of box has its particularities, advantages and disadvantages.

Mechanic
Advantage:
- Greater control: the driver has more options when controlling his vehicle, therefore he has more control over it
- They usually use less fuel
- If your car was “thrown”, pushing it to a service station, mechanic or where it does not interrupt vehicular traffic is very necessary. This “resource” is impossible in automatic vehicles
- In many cases, mechanical vehicles are easier and less expensive to repair than automatic ones
Disadvantages:
- Greater maintenance: when making continuous gear changes, you need more frequent maintenance. The wear on the internal parts is greater. However, the cost of mechanical damage is lower
- Clutch: The coordination between the clutch and the changes is something that some drivers cannot control at all. That type of effort and the discomfort of having to operate the gearshift every time it slows down and accelerates, would be the most frequent “counter” in this type of car. In addition, the clutch components must be replaced from time to time by premature wear.
Automatic
Advantage:
- More comfortable to drive: for many drivers it is simpler and easier, just use the acceleration and brake pedals, besides making a selection between the gears
- Of better use in the city: depending on where you live, if there is a lot of traffic like in Lima, where there is greater vehicular congestion, the constant braking and accelerated can be a relief and less tedious to realize that with a vehicle of mechanical transmission
- Long service life: When driving requires few changes in speed selection, the parts of the box have a longer average life
Disadvantages:
- More expensive: it is said that its approximate price is 10% or US $ 1,000 higher than a mechanic. As for maintenance and repair it is also usually more costly
- Consume more fuel
