Instructions
Removing the locking shaft Old
- Put on work gloves and turn off the engine. Put the car in “Park” if you have an automatic or “neutral” for the manual transmission and the emergency brake is set.
- Loosen the nuts on the front wheel with the wheel wrench. Use the floor jack to lift the car and place the jack under the outer edge of the frame. Remove the lug nuts with the wrench and set the wheel aside.
- Remove the hub cover with the appropriate socket. Two elastic ring located in the shaft holes. Insert the retaining ring pliers in the security rings and pull out. Separate the drive flange shaft assembly with the socket wrench.
- Remove the six nuts holding the axle shaft. Touch the center lightly with a hammer to help remove the board. Remove the old center spindle lock.
Installing the new Locking Hub
- Carburetor cleaner applied to the surface of the shaft coupling. Use the gasket scraper to remove the remaining gasket material and accumulate. Clean all cleaning and other particles from the surface with a rag. Apply silicone sealant to the surface of the shaft coupling. Avoid placing sealant on the screw holes.
- Cover the bottom of the new hub lock. Aligning the locking hub body with the mating shaft. Install the six nuts by hand. Use a torque wrench to tighten the nuts as specified in the owner’s manual. Remove excess silicone sealant with a rag.
- Install the new drive flange and fixing rings securely in place with pliers. Apply a small bead of sealant on the outside edge of the hub body and place the new gasket.
- Replace hub cover with the socket wrench. Use a cloth to remove excess sealant that may have escaped.
- Place the front wheel on the shaft and secure with nuts freely. Use the floor jack to remove the jack stand and lower the car. Use the torque wrench to tighten the nuts to specification in the owner’s manual.
